So, why a half marathon? Well, I need to learn to run again, at the moment I run in a way that my left foot rolls outwards each time I put the foot down. This means that each step I take I’m putting pressure on the outside of my knee. Since the Sahara, when I first noticed this, I’ve tried to sort it, but instead of seeking professional help I’ve just tried to do it on my own, and this has now caused my right knee to have problems.
The plan with the half marathon is to get full Gait analysis and trainer selection, and then go to the Cardiff Running School, to get the lads there to teach me how I’m going wrong and how to correct it. It’s ok to run in an odd way for smaller distances, like a half marathon, or even a marathon, as your body can cope and adapt. But anything longer, such as the distance needed for an ultra marathon, it starts to become a problem.
So, I’m learning from the basics again, I’ll keep you up to date with my progress as I move forward…lets hope I actually do the training this time!
